Brelby Instructor: Mat Vansen


11143265_10152974198699145_1762993929762834944_nBrelby Background: Mat recently made his directing debut with the 2015 Studio Series production of Angel’s Alley by Chelsea Frandsen, after assistant directing the 2014 summer hit She Kills Monsters. He made his Brelby stage debut performing in The Kill by Steven Cleaveland. Mat has since been seen on the Brelby stage in Be a Good Little Widow, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Oh, the Humanity!, 12 Days of Christmas, Little Women: the Musical, The 2014 Miscast Concert, Dotty Dot! A New Children’s Musical and will be taking on the role of King Louis in 2015’s summer adventure Beyond Musketeers: Utopia Lost. Mat served as the assistant scenic designer for Oh, the Humanity!, and co-media designer for 12 Days of Christmas.

Instructor Bio: Mat has been a Company Member at the Brelby Theatre Company since June 2014 and is currently theatre student at GCC. He has appeared in numerous Brelby productions as well as many independent and short film projects around the valley. He has taken classes at the Dearing Acting Studio and Actor’s Workhouse in Phoenix as well as a various workshops at Los Angeles acting schools. In the spring of 2012 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Appearing in projects such as “American Blackout” (2013) and “This Is Gonna Be Awesome” (2015) Mat is still actively involved in the Phoenix film community. Mat’s awards in the industry include Best Leading Male Actor in the Scottsdale Community College Film Festival (2012) and Best Ensemble in the IFP Phoenix Breakout Film Challenge.
