    Finding Brelby: Jose Martinez

Whaddup y’all! My name is Jose Martinez and I’m here to tell how I found Brelby. I discovered Brelby in the summer of 2013. Since then I have performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, She Kills Monsters, a cabaret, and they were gracious enough to allow me to use their venue to perform my original one-person show, Unlabeled. Brelby became not only a part of my acting career, but also a part of my life. The summer of 2013 I was recovering from depression. I felt like I was down on my luck, but it was the burning desire to perform that kept me going. I remember being online and scavenging the internet…

    Finding Brelby: Melissa Kamel

Finding Brelby: Melissa Kamel During my sophomore year of college, I decided to get some audition practice and audition for a world premiere musical, ‘Through the Mist’, at this little theatre company, and made it in. Since then, I’ve had numerous chances to act on stage and design costumes off stage. I have made more friends than I can count and have been able to add multiple roles to my resume. If I had to pick a word that describes my time at this theatre then I’d pick “glittering”. The definition is to “shine with shimmering or sparkling light”, and that’s exactly how I feel every time I step…

    Finding Brelby: Anna Katen

I found Brelby through a Google search. No, really. I found Brelby through a Google search I did the first week I moved to The Valley of the Sun, sitting on the air mattress I had set up in the living room of my very new, very empty home. I had just moved from Wyoming and had no idea that residential streets could have more than two lanes, no idea how to run an air conditioner, no idea where all the squirrels went, and no idea where to start my new life. Brelby’s attention to new work drew me in. The glitter on the floor kept me there. I…

    Finding Brelby: Travis Bovard

My name is Travis Bovard. Throughout my life, I have struggled to find my calling in life. When I was at NAU in Flagstaff, I thought that I was destined to be a high school choir teacher; mostly, because it wasn’t until I was in high school choir that I felt like I belonged somewhere. My choir teacher was the most welcoming to me and everyone in the choral union embraced me with open arms. Because of that, I always thought that that was what I was supposed to be. After a bout with some not so awesome things, I realized that teaching wasn’t for me. I moved back…

    Finding Brelby: Kristiana Faddoul

Finding Brelby: Kristiana Faddoul If you have not met her already, our first Finding Brelby blogger is Kristiana Faddoul. Kristiana was seen on stage in She Kills Monsters, Little Shop of Horrors, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She’s known for wielding a sword with ease and filling any room with a burst of positivity. But, do you know how she came to be here? Hmm. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As what I like to call a “second generation” Brelby artist, I came upon the Brelby Theatre Company completely by chance and sheer perfect timing. My mother found audition times for the famous Shakespearean show at a little theater called the Brelby Theatre Company…
