It’s that time of year again!! That time when we give the blog over to our immensely talented artists and let them share their thoughts about art, life and more. The November Blogathon has become a Brelby tradition here at the Brelby Buzz, and this year we’re wrapping up Season Nine with our favorite Brelby Moments. For the next 30 days, our artists will discuss their favorite Brelby Moments from Season Nine and how that has impacted them and the way they approach their art.
Today’s blog comes to us from Amelia Huot, who made her Brelby Debut as Marcy in the Arizona Premiere of Dogfight.
My Brelby Moment
By Amelia Huot
For me, I think the best moment in the Brelby season was doing my first show there. After getting cast I was nervous, this theatre didn’t know me and I didn’t know them but after the rehearsal process and after Dogfight went up I knew that Brelby was a special place. I wanted to continue to be involved there. Working with Brelby, they just really made me feel welcomed and loved. The people are so incredibly nice and devoted to the work they are doing, and I appreciate that so much. I’ve made friends with so many people, and I love the positive vibes from everyone and it makes working there so enjoyable. I’ve grown to really be a part of the Brelby family, they are people who make me feel good about myself and that I can achieve anything. So what way has Brelby changed the way I think about art? It really does matter about the people you work with. And to work with people who care just as much about the work as you do. It made me really think about how important the human experience is, and that’s exactly what theatre is and, what Brelby succeeds in.
Thank you Amelia for sharing your experience with us!! Check in throughout November for more inspiring stories like this one!
