It’s that time of year again!! That time when we give the blog over to our immensely talented artists and let them share their thoughts about art, life and more. The November Blogathon has become a Brelby tradition here at the Brelby Buzz, and this year we’re wrapping up Season Nine with our favorite Brelby Moments. For the next 30 days, our artists will discuss their favorite Brelby Moments from Season Nine and how that has impacted them and the way they approach their art.
Brelby Theatre Company Member, Jessie Tully is up today as she discusses her favorite moment from Season 9 and the way it changed her attitude towards her art.
My Brelby Moment
By Jessie Tully
This year has been nonstop for me like the last three years. I’m the first to admit I jump into show after show without stopping to take a breather. So I don’t have a lot of time to sit and take it all in. But time stopped for me this season because of a very special show. I had the privilege to Assistant Direct The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I
was excited going into it because I love the show but I had no idea what kind of exceptionally talented and amazing humans we would get to fill out this cast. From the first read through to the last dress rehearsal, there was just a special energy about the process. Everyone was present at all times even on their worst days. It reminded me to slow down and take it all in. It reminded me why I love theatre. The show has long since closed and members of the cast have moved across the country but we all find a way to support each other. We created great art and a weird little family. I finally slowed down and took it all in. Putnam made me live in the moment and not stress about the next. Thanks Word Fam for the endless love and beautiful goodbyes.
Thank you Jessie for reminding us all of the state of blissful S-Y-Z-Y-G-Y we were all in during Putnam. Check back with us tomorrow for more of the November Blogathon and our favorite Brelby Moments!
