My Brelby Moment: Karson Cook

It’s that time of year again!! That time when we give the blog over to our immensely talented artists and let them share their thoughts about art, life and more. The November Blogathon has become a Brelby tradition here at the Brelby Buzz, and this year we’re wrapping up Season Nine with our favorite Brelby Moments. For the next 30 days, our artists will discuss their favorite Brelby Moments from Season Nine and how that has impacted them and the way they approach their art.

Brelby Theatre Collaborative Artist, Karson Cook explains the Heart of a show which is really why all us theatre kids love theatre.

My Brelby Moment

By Karson Cook

My favorite moment this season has to be Putnam. This show was so incredibly special to me and will hold a special place in mine and every member of the Word Fam’s Hearts. From the moment we had our first read through, we knew this show and this cast were special. We had about 80% of the script and songs down and just got to play at every rehearsal. Every rehearsal was different and every night was different. We were so in sync that we would find so many knew motivations and make so many choices and just to have fun all the time. What more could you ask for?

We bonded in a way some casts and production teams never get the chance to; it was truly a magical experience for all of us. We laughed. We cried. We spelled. But above all, we loved each other and we had fun every night and every rehearsal. I and our #WordFam will never forget this show. And if you missed it, you truly missed out on something special. Many people and audiences don’t see what goes on behind the scenes, but if people could’ve seen the magic we had from that read through and on, they’d understand why this show will always be special to everyone that was a part of it. I love every single one of you, and you all know who you are.

So much Putnam love from Season Nine!! We’re looking forward to more casts creating moments like this in Season Ten!! Stay tuned for more stories to tug at your heart strings tomorrow and throughout November!
