It’s that time of year again!! That time when we give the blog over to our immensely talented artists and let them share their thoughts about art, life and more. The November Blogathon has become a Brelby tradition here at the Brelby Buzz, and this year we’re wrapping up Season Nine with our favorite Brelby Moments. For the next 30 days, our artists will discuss their favorite Brelby Moments from Season Nine and how that has impacted them and the way they approach their art.
Today’s Brelby Moment is brought to you by Brelby guest director, Louis Farber who was nominated for an ariZoni award for Peter and the Starcatcher.
My Brelby Moment
By Louis Farber
The greatest moment in Brelby Theatre this season for me was opening night for Peter and the Starcatcher. It was truly a pleasure and a privilege to be at the first guest director at Brelby, and to helm a bucket list show for both Brian and Shelby. Opening night was the culmination of a lot of hard work, dedication and collaboration. For me, as a director, opening night is when the show is truly passed from my hands to the stage manager and cast’s hands. I can finally sit back and watch the show as an audience member. Also, opening night has a special energy. It’s a mix of anticipation, excitement, and revelry. It is the first time you are able to feel those pre-show jitters. It is the first time you are able to feel the audience and hear their reactions. It is the first time you get to truly share the show.
The entire cast and crew on Peter and the Starcatcher poured their heart and soul into the production, and it showed. And though it was difficult to execute and we all tackled a lot of challenges along the way, our end product was delivered a greater magical experience than any of us could have hoped for. To quote the show, “Peter: The thing we did… Molly: Against impossible odds…”
Come back tomorrow for more amazing stories like this as the November blogathon continues!
