Shelby’s Pre-Show Checklist: November

Shelby's Preshow Checklist

Ah, November. The holiday season is upon us. Glendale Glitters is just around the corner. The weather is cooling down. (Although in Phoenix…perhaps not as quickly as we’d like it to.) November is a month dedicated to giving thanks and to remembering the positive things in our lives. I don’t know about you, but I have quite a list. While the holiday season is picking up, Brelby is settling in for a steady but less hectic couple of months. Our summer season was jampacked with epic productions, moving days, painting sessions, and big transitions.

We’re settled in to our beautiful new Playhouse, and we have our eyes on working towards our downstairs expansion. Downstairs will become our Basement Lab, dedicated to new works development, educational offerings, and more. Stay tuned for a big announcement to roll out about how you can support this initiative and leave your lasting mark on the new Brelby venue.

November brings one of my favorite times of year…the annual Brelby Blogathon. We’ve got some incredibly exciting artists in this year’s lineup, and in honor of our fresh start in a brand new home, we’re looking forward. This year’s theme is all about our artistic community and the ways we dream about it growing and thriving. Each blog will see a Brelby veteran partnered with a newcomer to Brelby this season…as a tribute to how much we value connections and collaboration.

Nov 5-6 Join us for the classic tale of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. This performance is FREE to the public, performing in E. Lowell Rogers Amphitheatre in Murphy Park. The project is funded by the City of Glendale’s Centerline Arts and Cultural Initiative. The Murphy Park amphitheatre is spacious and open, but does not have physical seating. We recommend that you plan ahead and bring a blanket, pillows, cushions, and anything else you need to be comfortable.

Nov 11-19 We close out our 2016 Studio Series with the world premiere of Cold War Kids by Miranda Giles. This coming of age story is about two best friends on the brink of adolescence while the United States stands on the brink of nuclear war. Mark your calendars for this beautiful piece.

Nov 25 We are delighted to be a featured performance during the kickoff ceremony of this year’s Glendale Glitters Opening Ceremony with a teaser performance from the cast of our upcoming holiday musical Quest for Claus: the Musical.

Thanks for reading. We can’t wait to see you at our new home this November. #comedowntothetown
