Shelby’s Pre-Show Checklist: October

Shelby's Preshow Checklist

Wow…have we been busy. If the lateness of my monthly kickoff post isn’t an indicator, then you should follow our Facebook page to get a glimpse at just how busy we’ve been. Results May Vary, Ghost the Musical and The Sun God’s Coin all continue their performances in October. Be sure to catch the latter two before they close. They’ve been getting wonderful audience responses, and you don’t want to miss out on the experience of witnessing these pieces. We also have our next round of auditions coming up the first weekend in November…so come on out for the chance to be a part of Peter and the Starcatcher, Blacklisters, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. October will see THREE more productions in rehearsal…Macbeth (opening in November in the Murphy Park Amphitheatre), Cold War Kids, and Quest for Claus: the Musical. Our playwrights for Season 9 are already hard at work on pieces for our Night of Shorts, which will kick off the season. Phew…that’s just scraping the surface folks. We have a lot of amazing projects in the works.

Brelby is back in the visual arts game this Saturday, October 15th, with our October Artist Fair. Join us from 11am-1pm in the Courtyard to see some of the amazing creations that our participating artists have for sale.

ghoulsnightoutWe’re also delighted to be joining in the festivities of Catlin Court’s annual Ghoul’s Night Out event, by showing off the makeup designs of several Brelby artists in our Courtyard. #comedowntothetown from 5-9PM on Friday October 21st to enjoy the event. (This is not an event meant for children.)

I’ve been co-teaching the Brelby Musical Theatre Audition Workshop with the amazing CJ O’Hara over the past few weeks, an it’s been a Broadway infused blast. I love hearing people develop new performance pieces, and getting into lively debates with my fellow instructor about the best shows around. Our students are immensely talented, and we’re actually putting together a little showcase on October 22nd to show off the pieces that they’ve been working on. Come down and check it out, at 7:30PM!
