“Everything has to come to an end, sometime.”
–L. Frank Baum, The Marvelous Land of Oz
I don’t think that endings are inherently sad…especially when they lead to exciting new beginnings. Brelby is currently preparing to say goodbye to the storefront studio that helped us grow exponentially, allowed us to transform into a new works incubator, and provided a venue for us to welcome so many amazing members of our artistic family. June is our last month performing in this space that holds some of my most cherished theatrical memories. Battling dragons in She Kills Monsters, celebrating sisterhood in Little Women and Fangirl, fighting for love and survival in Windfall…and so many more. We’re infinitely excited to expand and thrive in our new venue, but I’ll miss this place for all that it did for Brelby. There is only one month left of performances to enjoy in the space, so don’t miss out.
Friday, June 3rd @ 7:30pm… join us for An Evening with the Ensemble.
This fundraising night will go to support the company as they prepare to embark on a retreat to dig into intensive planning for Season 9. The evening will include songs, original scenes, dances, and more. It may even include a little boy band routine from some of the ensemble gentlemen. We’re all so excited!
Friday, June 3rd @ 10:00pm… Results May Vary – Ensemble Night.
The Brelby ensemble members of the team are participating in a fast paced “you call it” night to support our upcoming retreat.
During this show, we ask that audience members bring dollar bills with them. You’ll have the opportunity to CONTROL the show! By adding a dollar to our tip jars, you can change the scene, override a suggestion, or request your favorite game.
June 16-25… After Hours at Rosie’s Pub
Next up in the 2016 Studio Series, and our final performance in the Brelby Studio…After Hours at Rosie’s Pub. This piece is special. The women of the ensemble have been developing the script since January, and we have an amazing cast and production team bringing this magical bar to life. It merges the historical with fictional, weaving themes that we can all connect with…faith, art, love and more. The stories are women together by famous women from history, and connected with song and dance into an entertaining and enchanting evening.
After Hours at Rosie’s Pub
By the Brelby Company Women
(Shelby Maticic, Carolyn McBurney, Megan O’Connor, Mia Passarella, Melody Chrispen, Jessie Tully & April Rideout)
After the lights have dimmed, and the early crowd has left the scene, Rosie’s Pub is frequented by a medley of female revolutionaries from throughout history. As they take the stage for an unconventional open mic night, they tell their stories through song, poetry, and narratives. Their individual histories weave together, and allow them to pose questions about today’s world. Its history like you’ve never heard it before, and these women have a lot to say.
June 26 @ 12pm-3pm … Brelby Artist Fair
We’re hosting one of our artist fairs this month at the Brelby Playhouse, our new venue. Join us for an afternoon, celebrating the multi-talented artists in our community. This free event is an opportunity for local artists to show their wares, and community members to support their talents and shop local! A small percentage of each purchase will go to support Brelby Theatre Company. Artists interested in participating should email firstname.lastname@example.org with a sample of their work.
Brelby has a lot of exciting changes and news just around the corner…so stay tuned for even more exciting happenings over the summer.
